1 Chr. 16:29  Ascribe unto Jehovah the glory due unto His name.

 

REV. 5:12-14:   4:9-11

1.    Glory is due God (His love - wisdom, power, forgiveness, justice, etc.

 

2.    We created for this purpose  -

Not for self, for others to glorify us, not to heap riches to self

 

Not to satisfy the desires of our flesh-but to glorify God

 

To fail in this is to have lived in vain -'

Better not to have lived at all

All else must be incidental to and subservient to this.

 

Glory =   honor resulting from good opinion, God's glory or my glory for God

 

Glorify = to praise, to extol, to magnifyto honor, to hold in honor

 

This done thru thoughts and/or actions.

1.    Begins in thoughts  manifests self in actions­

 

HOW

 

1.    LIFE MUST SHED RADIANCE ON CAUSE OF CHRIST 

A.    1 Cor. 5:19-20,  by abstaining from such as fornication1

B.    1 Pet. 4:14=16,  not suffer as evil doer-

       C.    John 15:8       bearing much fruit

2.    By submitting to God's desire and will

A.    Jesus did,  John 17:4

B.    Phil.  1:9-11

Love abound in wisdom / knowledge

à Approve what is excellent

à Sincere, w/o offence, filled with fruit1

à UNTO GLORY &  PRAISE OF GOD

 

3.    MUST REPRESENT GOD HIS WAY -

       A.    Lev. 10:1-3:   (Prov. 14:12; Jer. 10:23; 1 Cor. 2:  etc.)

B.    1 Pet. 4:11,  speak as oracles of God.
